Addiction - also a family disease

Co addicts are persons who have developed an unhealthy relationship pattern as a direct response to the close involvement with someone who has the disease of alcoholism and or the disease of addiction or other compulsive behaviors. An example of such an unhealthy relationship could be a parent, partner or child or just a friend. This relationship brings about certain feelings or behaviors with the co addict, such as, low self esteem, the need to be indispensable for the other, a strong urge to change or control the other and a willingness to suffer. In fact all of these characteristics of the co addict can be found in women that are daughters of alcoholics and or other addicts.

A family matter but -

Loved ones of those with addiction must learn that they can't control addiction, they didn't cause addiction, and they can't cure addiction.

Violence often is closely connected with addiction
